Kristan Pelton de Navasques: "For many years, I have been a realistic and overly conscious painter; I was always trying to control the paint. Although my painting technique was academically correct, my realistic work lacked meaning and life. By finally accepting the power of the unconscious and allowing a total loss of personal control, I am able to give each painting a life of its own.
